The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) on Thursday arrested Enforcement Directorate (ED) Assistant Director Shashi Shekhar for allegedly taking a bribe of Rs 10 lakh through a businessman.

New Delhi: The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) on Thursday arrested Enforcement Directorate (ED) Assistant Director Shashi Shekhar for allegedly taking a bribe of Rs 10 lakh through a businessman.

While posted as ED Assistant Director, Shekhar, in conspiracy with M/S of Set Square Holdings Private Limited Raj Kumar Agarwal, reportedly abused his official position as a public servant and obtained an illegal gratification from different persons as a motive or a reward for discharging his duties.

As per sources, Shekhar has collected more than Rs 10 lakh, which has been parked with Agarwal with the motive to take back the same in the garb of a lawful income at a later date.

A case has been registered against Shekhar, Agarwal, representative of Agarwal and others unknown under section 120-B of India Penal Code (IPC) and section 7, 12 and section 13(1)(d) r/w section 13(2) of Prevention of Corruption Act.

The investigation is entrusted to the Patna Deputy Superintendent of Police.
