Hyderabad: Pre-bookings for the much-awaited Jio Phone started on Thursday evening, but much to the disappointment of those who are looking to book the device, Jio website crashed owing to heavy traffic.

This aside, MyJio app, the other option to book the device online, was too slow to open.

Millions of people across the country were looking forward to lay their hands on the 4G-enabled feature phone since Reliance India Limited Chairman Mukesh Ambani launched the device at the RIL’s AGM on July 21.

As announced earlier, pre-bookings for the handset began on Jio website, app and offline stores associated with Jio at 5.30 pm on Thursday, but people could not book it due to technical glitches.
