Deputy CM meets Sushma Swaraj
Deputy Chief Minister of Telangana Mohammed Mahmood Ali met the Union Minister for External Affairs Sushma Swaraj here on Friday. He urged the Centre to play a major role in convincing the Myanmar government to protect Rohingya community.
New Delhi: Deputy Chief Minister of Telangana Mohammed Mahmood Ali met the Union Minister for External Affairs Sushma Swaraj here on Friday. He urged the Centre to play a major role in convincing the Myanmar government to protect Rohingya community.
Referring to the issue, Ali told Sushma Swaraj that though the Prime Minister Narendra Modi raised the issue with the State Counsellor of Myanmar Aung San Suu Kyi, it was not enough as the Myanmar government was reluctant to stop the persecution of Rohingya community. Myanmar should revisit the citizenship issue for Rohingya community, he said.
He also urged her to pressure Bangladesh to do more for the refugees pouring in from the neighbouring country. Earlier, he met the Ambassadors of Saudi Arabia and Bangladesh.
