Former Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav on Sunday downplayed opposition's comment on dynasty politics and said that if his party follows dynasty politics then his wife Dimple Yadav would not contest next elections.

"If there is dynastic politics, then I decide that my wife will not fight election for the next time. Now, BJP will tell about their dynastic politics, he told the media.

Yadav further said that he mulling to expand Samajwadi Party in Chhattisgarh as well.

"We believe that we will soon try to spread Samajwadi Party here (Chhattisgarh) as well. We will surely work for the poor people, farmers and youth like our Samajwadi Party supporters did in Uttar Pradesh," he added.

Congress vice-president Rahul Gandhi had, during a speech at University of California, Berkeley, hit back at those who have accused him of reaping the benefits of "dynasty politics" and justified the charges against him, saying that the entire nation is running on it and hence, one should not go only after him.

"Most of the country runs like this. Akhilesh Yadav is a dynast. Stalin is a dynast. Dhumal's son a dynast. Even Abhishek Bachchan is a dynast. Also Mr. Ambani.

That's how India runs. Don't go after me," he said.
