Tamil Nadu : Retired Madras High Court judge Justice A Arumugasamy on Monday was appointed to probe the death of former Tamil Nadu chief minister J Jayalalithaa.

On August 17, Chief Minister EK Palanswamy had announced that a judicial probe would be set up in the matter.

Former Tamil Nadu chief minister O Paneerselvam and the new friend of Palanswamy after party merger, has also been urging for a CBI probe in the matter.

On May 19, he also met Prime Minister Narendra Modi to demand a CBI inquiry.

This decision of Tamil Nadu government comes two days after Dindigul Sreenivasan revealed that all ministers of the state had lied to the people about hospitalisation and death of AIADMK general secretary J Jayalalithaa and said that only once a closest confidant of Jayalalithaa, VK Sasikala and her family had access to see Amma.

After which expelled All India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (AIADMK) leader TTV Dinakaran responded to the above stating that former party general secretary V K Sasikala has video of Jayalalithaa while she was hospitalised and he will give the video to the probe committee.

Jayalalithaa died of a heart attack on the night of December 5, 2016 after spending 75 days in Apollo Hospitals, Chennai in critical condition.
