New Delhi: National capital Delhi reverberated with guns shots on Tuesday morning when the gang of criminals opened fire at Delhi and the Punjab police when they had raided the office of property dealer near Dwarka Mor metro station. The joint operation of the Delhi and Punjab police took place after the inputs of criminal activity they got from intelligence cell. Reportedly, plenty of arms and ammunition have also been recovered from the criminals.

Although there was no incident of injuries reported in the operation and cops caught five men with a huge cache of arms. The police said the raid was conducted by a police team from Mohali on the basis of an input about a notorious criminal from Punjab is hiding in the area. After getting the inputs police team reached the spot and started inquiries. When the police team reached the shop and started inquiries, the men inside the shop started firing. In reply, police fired back and overpowered the criminals. The police team has taken the criminals into their custody.

DCP Shibesh Singh said the suspected criminals were hiding on the second floor of a residential building in Dwarka. Also, the sources said the suspects were involved in various crimes, including carjacking. The police officers are still combing the area to look for more criminals

Reports say that the gang belongs to Mewat and is been active in Delhi, particularly in the southern parts of the city. The gand has frequented Delhi and committed some of the most horrible crimes against the police and public causing a huge loss of life and property, PS Kushwah, Deputy Commissioner of Police (Special Cell), said earlier. Metro train halt at the Dwarka Mor metro station was suspended for a brief period due to the encounter.
