Kulbhushan Jadhav | Parliament condemns humiliating treatment of family, Sushma Swaraj to make statement tomorrow

Parliament on Wednesday witnessed protests across all party lines condemning the way Pakistan humiliated the family of jailed Indian national Kulbhushan Jadhav in Islamabad.

Lawmakers of every single party not only slammed Islamabad for the farce meeting but also demanded that India must do all it can to bring back Jadhav.

“We condemn the way Kulbhushan Jadhav 's mother and wife were treated in Pakistan. Kulbhushan Jadhav should be brought back to the country,” senior Congress leader Mallikarjun Kharge said in the Lok Sabha.

“We can't expect anything better from Pakistan. The way Kulbhushan Jadhav's mother and wife were treated was shameful,”Kapil Sibal, another senior Congress leader, was quoted as saying by news agency ANI.

Amid uproar over the issue, External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj said that she will be making a statement in the House on this issue tomorrow.
Swaraj is scheduled to give a statement in the Rajya Sabha at 11 am tomorrow and at 12 noon in the Lok Sabha.

On Tuesday, a day after the Jadhav's family met him in Islamabad, New Delhi ripped apart Islamabad's PR stunt by giving the details of the 30-minute meeting.
From removing bangles, bindi and mangal sutra of Jadhav's wife to preventing his mother to speak in her mother tongue, Pakistani officials and the local media continued to harass the two during their short stay in Pakistani capital.

Narrating sequence of events, the MEA statement said that prior to the meeting the two countries through diplomatic channels had worked out modalities and format of the meeting. “There were clear understandings between the two sides and the Indian side scrupulously abided by all its commitments,” it said. The MEA noted with regret that the Pakistani side conducted the meeting in a manner which violated the letter and spirit of our understandings.
