With Prime Minister Narendra Modi completing his address at the World Economic Forum in Davos on Tuesday, Congress leader responding to the speech suggested that the Prime Minister should also address the issue of rising income inequality in the country.

Citing a media report quoting a survey from Oxfam that highlighted the vast gap between the rich and the poor in India, Rahul Gandhi suggested that PM Modi should address this issue as well in front of the world leaders.

International rights groups Oxfam released a survey on Monday that stated the richest 1% in India own 73% of the wealth generated in the country.

In 2017, the survey showed India's richest 1% held a huge 58% of the country's total wealth which was higher than the global figure of about 50%.

At the World Economic Forum Annual Meeting, rising income and gender inequality are among the key aspects to discuss for the world leaders and the annual Oxfam survey is keenly discussed in detail.
