Delhi: Eight-month-old baby raped by cousin; undergoes three-hour surgery
An eight-month-old baby was allegedly raped by her 28-year-old cousin in Delhi.
An eight-month-old baby was allegedly raped by her 28-year-old cousin in Delhi.
The baby, who was brought severely wounded and bleeding to the hospital on Sunday evening went through a three-hour surgery for her injuries.
She has been shifted to the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) and now the doctors have stated her condition is stable.
According to the reports, the baby was assaulted at her home in Subhash Nagar when both her parents were out for work.
The child was left in the care of a relative in the building and the mother upon returning, found the baby crying on a bed covered in blood.
After rushing her to the hospital, the parents were informed that the baby had been raped. Upon the family’s suspicion of the child’s cousin, the man was arrested on Tuesday evening and has reportedly confessed to the crime during interrogation.
The accused has been charged with offences for which he could face life in jail.
