Kannur (Kerala): Suspected CPM activists hurled a bomb and killed a youth Congress leader with sharp weapons in Kerala’s killing field Kannur. The slain Youth Congress worker has been identified as Shuhaib.

According to the Congress, CPM workers accosted Shuhaib, who was at an eatery at around 11 PM. Four miscreants came in a car and hurled bombs at him. Then they hacked him with a sword before fleeing the spot. Shuhaib died while being shifted to the hospital. Two more Congress activists suffered injuries in the attack.

The Congress called for a bandh in protest against the CPM’s politics of violence. It said the police was a mute spectator in Kannur where the Left party is unleashing an orgy of violence. The CPM proptly denied the accusations.

Kannur is known to be a bastion of the CPM and has witnessed a spate of murders when RSS and the BJP challenged its domination. Several RSS workers have been killed and the RSS and the BJP have recently organized a massive Jana Raksha Yatra in the state to put pressure on the ruling Left front.
