Famous Odiya actress joins BJP
Aparajita Mohanty, a popular actress from Odisha, joined the BJP at Bhubaneshwar on Monday. She quit the Congress and took BJP’s membership in the presence of Union Petroleum Minister Dharmendra Pradhan.

She said she was joining the BJP as she was inspired by the ideals of Prime Minister narendra Modi. She will now campaign for the BJP at Bijepur assembly constituency, where a bypoll is being held. She is the second major Odiya actress to join the BJP in the last one week. Last week, popular Odiya actress mahasweta Ray joined the BJP. Two other popular actors – Anu Choudhury and Mihir Das – joined the BJP in the last month.
Odisha has of late see a saffron surge with the BJP doing very well in the local polls pushing the Congress to the third position. It is giving the ruling BJD a run for its money.
