New Delhi: Vice President Venkaiah Naidu said has hailed the 'special relationship' between India and Serbia while saying that both the countries 'enjoy a special relationship based on mutual trust and understanding.'

According to a press release, Naidu, on May 3 interacted with the Serbian delegation led by the First Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs of Serbia, Ivica Dacic

The Vice President, who had a word with Dacic on the Kosovo issue, assured that there is no change in India's principled stand. India does not recognize Unilateral Declaration of Independence (UDI) of Kosovo, he said.

India has opposed Kosovo's application for membership of various international entities including UNESCO, World Customs Organization (WCO), Interpol, etc, he further added.

The Vice President further said he sees an immense scope to improve bilateral trade with Serbia and was happy that the bilateral trade between India and Serbia has increased in recent years and has reached about 200 million US Dollars in 2017.

Serbian companies can take advantage to participate in the Indian economy, as it's the fastest growing economy, through B-2-B model, he added.

The visiting Deputy Prime Minister of Serbia invited Naidu to visit their nation.
