Karnataka Assembly Elections: As always Congress this time is very certain about winning the elections and is taking no chances in Karnataka, but sources say exit polls have inserted a sense of uncertainty. The prediction went high after the polling on Saturday that BJP would secure the largest number of seats, whereas a few indicated a congress majority.

The Congress is not willing to take any chances with Karnataka government, nor leaving little to chance a day before election results.
Though appearing confident of crossing the halfway mark on its own, the congress Monday reached out to the JD(S) and it rushed its senior bodies Ghulam Nabi Azad and Ashok Gehlot to Bengaluru.
This is a move to avoid a repeat of the Goa and Manipur disaster in the past, where it failed to form a government despite emerging as the largest party.

Sources said Azad met a senior JD(S) leader in Delhi on Saturday night before leaving to Karnataka to understand former prime minister and JD(S) chief HD Deve Gowda and his son Kumara Swamy better. Azad is an old Karnataka hand general secretary in charge of the state two decades ago. When former president Sonia Gandhi contested the Bellary Lok Sabha seat in 1999 he was the AICC Minder for Karnataka. During that time AICC general secretary in charge of Karnataka KC Venugopal too is in Bengaluru.

Sources announces in a meeting that was a mere exchange of notes and that nothing substantial was discussed as no serious discussion can take place without the numbers. According to the JD(S) assessment, it may well play a crucial role in government formation if neither the BJP nor congress reached the halfway mark. The congress is expecting between 113 to 120 seats.

While the congress sits high of winning the victory, sources predict a sense of uncertainty. After voting on Saturday, at least six exit polls predicted that the BJP would get the largest number of seats, while two indicated a congress majority. Seven polls predicted a hung assembly, which suggests that JD(S) predicted to get between 20 and 40 of the states 224 seats would be a kingmaker

Siddaramaiah is a Dalits hero he has won their hearts and his statement that he was ready to step aside and make way for a Dalit chief minister in the state if the congress high command has also triggered a debate within the party.

Some top congress leader argued that It was a political statement. He has won over the Dalits. If he get the majority then no one can stop him he will become the CM. A senior leader said in Delhi. From a national point of view, Dalits lost confidence in the entire country.. there are no credible political Dalit icons left , if he is the one Dalit people chose then he is the one for them
