Janata Dal (Secular) leader HD Kumaraswamy is all set to take oath as the 25th Chief Minister of Karnataka today. Several opposition leaders including UPA Chairperson Sonia Gandhi, Congress President Rahul Gandhi, Kerala CM Pinarayi Vijayan, West Bengal CM Mamata Banerjee, Andhra Pradesh CM Chandrababu Naidu, Akhilesh Yadav of the Samajwadi Party, Bahujan Samaj Party Chief Mayawati, Ajit Singh of the Rashtriya Lok Dal, Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal, Tejaswi Yadav of the Rashtriya Janata Dal, and actor and politician Kamal Hassan are said to attend the swearing-in ceremony in Bengaluru.

The Karnataka Pradesh Congress Committee president, Dr G Parameshwara, would be sworn in as Deputy Chief Minister, along with Kumaraswamy.

Speaking to the media, Congress general secretary, KC Venugopal said that Congress will get 22 positions including deputy CM of the 34 berths while JD(S) will get 12 positions including the chief minister.

He also informed that Ramesh Kumar from the Congress would be the speaker again while the deputy speaker would be from the JD(S) adding that a coordination committee would be formed shortly to ensure the smooth running of the government.

Meanwhile, BJP after garnering 104 seats and given an opportunity to form a government, BS Yeddyurappa still had to resign failing to muster additional support. Now, the party is gearing up to observe “Anti-People’s Mandate Day” on Wednesday to protest the formation of the coalition government.
