Girl who was checked upon by Major Nitin Leetul Gogoi says she went there on her own accord
Major Gogoi was at the centre of a controversy for tying a Kashmiri man to a jeep as human shield from stone pelters last year. The girl who the Major went to check in a hotel stated that she had been there on her own free will which is disputed by the girl’s mother.

When asked on how she knows the Major, she replied stating that she came into contact with him on Facebook through a fake account he created. She also said that the Major himself revealed his identity to her. The girl also submitted her Aadhaar which stated her birth year as 1999.
On the other hand the girl’s mother, Naseema Begum who lives with her daughter and 3 little boys in Budgam village, has stated that both the Major and Sameer visited their house, a tin can since the 2014 floods, at late hours in the night and that she felt chills down her spine every time they visited. She also stated that she blamed Sameer for bringing the Major into her house to lure her daughter.
