Nehal, Nirav Modi’s step brother who lives in the US disappeared with 50kg gold jewelry from a Dubai safe. He disappeared when he found out that the CBI had registered a cheating case against him.The case was for defrauding the Punjab National Bank.

As soon as Nehal realized that the investigating agencies would delay the shift of the jewelry from Dubai, he shifted them to another safe location.

Nehal has not been accused by the CBI as the main suspect but is being considered as one with a significant role in laundering the proceeds of the bank funds siphoned out of India by his brother.

The entire Modi family has left India but Nehal was sent back to negotiate with the bank for a longer period to pay their dues. The bank rejected his proposal.

Another main player in this is Mihir Bhansali, who is considered as Nirav Modi’s right hand and was the one who handed out instructions to move the funds.
