BENGALURU:Kalburgi, a link to the Gauri Lankesh case, was murdered in his own home, by two unidentified men on August 30,2015.The men came to Kalburgi’s Kalyan Nagar residence and started a conversation with the scholar. His wife, Uma Devi went inside as she thought the men were the victim’s students.The men ran, after one of them shot Kalburgi dead.

One of the visiting man is suspected to be Amol Kale, who is now being questioned regarding the Gauri case by the Special Investigation team.

One of the relatives of Kalburgi, identified Kale as one of the visitors but the investigation unit has stated that they would need more evidence to establish the claim.

Kale, Manohar Yadave, Amit Degvekar and Sujit Kumar were first arrested for conspiring to kill K S Bhagawan. The SIT took them into custody after they got word that the four had links with the Gauri case.
Kale’s accomplice, Nihal alias Dada is suspected to have played a major role in Gauri’s murder, the police is on the lookout for him.
