The arrangement to follow the 1992 Code of Conduct (CoC) to bring an end to harassment and intimidation of diplomats also seems to be dancing on the edge.

It has been acknowledged that Pakistan has officially registered protest three times with the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) this month claiming that it's diplomats were harassed by Indian authorities.

In contrast to this, the Indian air adviser was detained for a while at the Islamabad airport on June 10 for not carrying his identification card provided by the Pakistan’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MoFA). According to the South block source , the identification card was awaiting renewal from MoFA.

A day before that, Pakistan stated an allegation that it's own air adviser had his car broken into pieces outside DLF Mall in Vasant Kunj.

These are the first to be have reported since India and Pakistan invoked CoC.

Pakistan sent a protest note on MEA last week alleging that one of it's top diplomats here was tailed and harassed by Indian authorities.

The purpose of the diplomats is not clear India and Pakistan need to keep some form of diplomatic engagement going not least to address the issue of terrorism.
