Several reports emanating from the national capital suggest that the BJP leadership has bowed in to the demands raised by its leaders over the Telangana Bill. Some of the points the BJP wishes to propose include -
- Merge Bhadrachalam division with Seemandhra
- Recommend multipurpose status to the Polavaram project
- Legal protection for the Seemandhra irrigation projects
- Assurance to the Seemandhra people and employees in particular living in Hyderabad
The party leadership is now putting pressure on the Centre to address the concerns and fears of Seemandhra region before tabling the Telangana Bill in the Parliament threatening them of withdrawing their support to the bill if theses amendment were not made.
Political observers feel that the Telangana BJP leaders will never accept these proposals, particularly the inclusion of Bhadrachalam. If BJP is firm on these amendments, then Telangana becoming a reality would be a distant dream.
