Censoring the freedom of speech or the spiral of speech?
Censoring The Freedom of Speech or The Spiral of Speech. As we all know that the freedom of speech is our fundamental right, which was given for the people of India by its highest degree called constitution.
As we all know that the freedom of speech is our fundamental right, which was given for the people of India by its highest degree called constitution. As we all know that the freedom of speech plays a key role in the democracy. Especially, in the multiparty democracy, the right to speech can cause the class conflicts between the classes of the society. India is an example for these incidents.
The point is that, the freedom of speech is being censored more often in the nation. Here, the minority voices are bounded within the spiral of silence. The minority voices are being suppressed by the majority in many ways. The thing that we should question ourselves that do we have the freedom of suppression of the minority voice? If then how do we come to know that they are suffering? These questions are little diplomatic to answer, of course the constitution of India describes the freedom of speech in the article 19(1) a, but the same constitution, describes in the article in 19(2) about the reasonable restrictions too…
Then does anyone know about the use of the freedom of speech according to the constitution of India? If they know, we, the journalists are interested and of course, ready to listen to their version too. Due to the market driven journalism, the media has turned to entertain the people and they are very much interested in the news. But the fact is a journalist should be a storyteller but not a story creator. Due to the market driven journalism, most of the channels are committing the same mistakes on repetition. When the news is created in the news room, the minor issues are being neglected everywhere. This is where the silence is rounded around the spirals.
The worst case scenario is, the government is also one of them those who suppress the minority voices through the cross media ownerships etc. where a journalist cannot work with freedom because of the sold journalism where Mr. Rajdeep sardesi explains this situation as the supari journalism. Due to the story creators, the story tellers have lost their importance. There are the best journalists all over the nation who are pretty much good with their profession and ethics too. Know we see the people are more interested in audio-visual medium but not to the print media. The people are very much interested in watching the private channels rather than the doordarshan why? Is that because of the sensationalization? Or what might be the reason?
Then, for whom the journalist should stand, either the power or the victim? If we are scared for power then we cannot stand for the victim. Obviously we are going to suppress the minority voices for ever. This is considered as a spiral of silence.
