Our Prime minister hailing from middle class Indian family can understand and dreams of American, Singaporean life styles for Indians. India has a strong cultural stamp and a value woven societal mind set..
Americans who constitute less than 5% of world population, have maximum suicides, mass killings, deplorable number of divorces , what kind of lessons/values one can learn from them?. America is undoubtedly a market leader in technology and controls world economy. The question is, are Americans happy with all advancements?. Imported tools of western economy like, ATM , credit cards, smart phones, social net works, have made India shamefully proud of frauds and fake identities. The value system is seriously compromised for wealth creation
.
Being a great Indian patriot, Modiji frequently now a days thinks as a commerce man. Progress of any country is neither in the amount of foreign reserves nor in the GDP figures. Everything boils down to good food, good shelter, decent income, and good citizenship, underscoring happiness and harmony in families. Possibly Government needs to be told and trained on what is meant by family happiness. When we fail to focus on population, pollution and poverty, progress is an eldorado.
It is appropriate to recollect what Mahatma said long ago, ‘Bharat lives in Villages and in the hearts of farmers’. Today agriculture is in perils, both education and health are 'make in corporate', corruption is blatant and black money is a street walk. Where are we going?.
Vivekananda's clarion call of Man making, character building education has been systematically assaulted leading to its extinction. Average Indian is an avaricious man today. One can be ambitious but not avaricious. It is all because of misplaced goals and wrong ideology. More money does not mean more happiness or alleviation of suffering. India has no less money, worlds top most billionaires are Indians. History has proven, more money is more greed, more inequalities. My honest thinking is that country needs modernization but not westernization. Constant erosion of values and ethical living is to be stopped. This should begin from the top.'yadha Raja, thadha praja ' just one person being corruption free does not mean a virtue, turning blind eye towards corrupt individuals is equal to personal corruption. It means, one has advantage or benefit by ignoring the sins of (all central and state leaders) others, what else could be the inference?.There is an old English adage'show me your friends, I'll tell you what you are'. Should the Government not ponder over what kind of partners it has?
CEOs from different parts of globe landing in Indira Gandhi International Airport, would it mean magic solution to unemployment?. Indian youth are to be told to be entrepreneurs but not employees, masters but not slaves. We need support but not just dollars. There is no mantra that removes the laziness plaguing the young today. Qualified youth have no employable skills, let us focus on this not as separate skill Center but integrated well into the curriculum. Let industrialists be partners in this holy task. The age old educational system where knowledge is delinked with skill, landed us today where we have burden of non-productive educated lamenting for livelihood.
Balanced partnership between private and public in all spheres of country is needed, possibly essential. But wide gap/ disparity in quality, expenditure, and income in Private verses Public organizations, is a reflection of scant regard for public institutions and blatant support to people who corner resources. I heard recently an elderly experienced man commenting that any project/activity under Government is bound to fail, because of reservations, casteism, communalism, corruption and what not. Post Independence India has become a victim of internal enemies than external.
An Indian scientist recently, ironically after being relieved of his coveted post, commented that Indian science is plagued by same maladies as of Indian politics. Good science is not encouraged, mediocre individuals reign; Scientific bodies are packed with corrupt individuals, with no scientific spirit. Sports is no exception, people who have not held a bat or stick, head cricket or hockey. How do we expect science or sports to flourish in foul atmosphere? What can be more shocking than, when a scientific proposal is kept in abeyance for over three years for whatever reason it may be? Scientists are habituated to the blame for poor impact value research. The Enquiry should begin from the top. Intellectual voices are disregarded and silenced. People wearing the masks of science frequent the corridors of power and get eternally planted in Indraprastha.
We, honestly speaking, lack national pride. We indulge in mutual criticism and condemnation instead of appreciation and encouragement.
