BJP demands compensation for rain-hit farmers

Adilabad: BJP district activists staged a dharna at the Collector’s camp office here on Friday to protest against the administration’s ‘failure’ to rescue the rain-affected farmers.

District party President Payala Shankar, who led the protest, demanded compensation under the ‘Fasal Bima Yojana’, to the rain-hit soya farmers, who suffered losses. He alleged that the indifferent attitude of the officials was resulting in farmers suffering losses.

Shankar held out a warning to the state government by threatening to intensify the agitation if the demand was not conceded in 15 days. Later, a BJP delegation submitted a representation to district Collector Buddha Prakash M Jyoti.
