For decades, the hospital has been functioning as a 100-bed hospital in a congested environment causing lot of inconvenience to the patients. The medical and para-medical staff are having a harrowing time in giving treatment to the out-patients as the number has increased from 50 to nearly 200 in recent times.
Earlier, it was proposed to hand over this hospital building to the maternity and construct a big hospital at some other place and the Department of Health has sent the proposal which is still pending.
Then, expectant mothers from different villages and mandals would start coming here in large numbers. However, doctors and officials of health department said that there is a remote possibility of constructing new buildings in the near future. It may take some more time.
Speaking to the Hans India here on Monday, Dr Ajay Kumar, Superintendent of District Hospitals said that a proposal has been sent to the Department of Health seeking permission to upgrade the 100-bed hospital into a 300 bed hospital and they were taking measures to provide quality medical services to the poor and the downtrodden in the society. He said that they would take special steps to improve the medical facilities at the hospital.
