Asifabad: District Superintendent of Police Sanpreet Singh said that advised the police to remain alert and maintain vigil in the district, in view of the bandh call given by Maoists on Monday.

Addressing the officials of the police department through a teleconference on the eve of Maoist bandh here on Sunday, he said that they should take steps to prevent any untoward incidents in the district.

Singh wanted the police to maintain a strict vigil in trouble prone areas and reminded them that the Maoists blew up a private bus two days again in Chattisgargh.

Such incidents should not be repeated in the district, he cautioned.
The Superintendent of Police said that combing operations were also underway in the district and urged the people to cooperate with the police in maintaining law and order.

He also made an appeal to the Maoists to give up arms and join the social mainstream. He assured them that the police would extend all possible help to them in their rehabilitation. The police was jointly taking up such programmes with the public.

The bomb squad inspected the highly sensitive areas and police also took the help of sniffer dogs. Search operations were also conducted near culverts besides the roads which were prone to attacks.
