Nizamabad: The 106th birth anniversary of former Deputy Prime Minister Dr Babu Jagjivan Ram was celebrated in the district on a grand note. District Collector Christina Z Chongthu, MLA Yendla Lakshminarayana, MLCs Gangadhar Goud and A Narsi Reddy and several other leaders garlanded the statue of Jagjivan Ram in the town on Friday.

A meeting was held at the Collectorate where the portrait of Jagjivan Ram was garlanded. Addressing the meeting, Collector Christina Z Chongthu recalled the services of Jagjivan Ram to the nation, especially for the development of SCs and STs.

She said that the AP Government had introduced the SC, ST Sub-Plan for the welfare of the people belonging to these communities. Meetings would be held in the colonies across the district to bring awareness among the people about the scheme. Basic amenities like roads, drinking water supply and sewage lines would be provided in the SC, ST colonies with the funds allocated by the Government. In addition, Indiramma houses, monthly pensions and other benefits would be sanctioned to the beneficiaries. She urged the people to strive for proper implementation of SC, ST Sub-Plan.

MLA Yendala Lakshminarayana urged the people, especially those from weaker sections, to strive to achieve the goals of Dr Jagjivan Ram.A Social Welfare Joint Director Kaleb, BC Welfare District Officer Rajaiah, Girijan Welfare Officer Pandurangam, MPRO O Padmarao and other officials were present at the programme.

Adilabad: District Collector Dr Ashok, Adilabad MLA Jogu Ramanna, leaders of Girijan Welfare Associations and Dalit Welfare Associations participated in the birth anniversary celebrations of Jagjivan Ram in the town on Friday.A The Collector and other leaders garlanded the portrait of Jagjivan Ram at the Social Welfare Office and recalled his services. They also unveiled the statue of Jagjivan Ram at the office and garlanded it.

The officials and Dalit leaders garlanded the statue of the former Deputy Prime Minister at Jagjivan Ram Chowk near Zilla Parishad Quarters and garlanded the statue where they paid tributes to him. A Though he was born in a downtrodden family, he was able to attain the top post of Deputy Prime Minister, the leaders said and urged the people of the SC and ST communities to strive to attain great positions.

Karimnagar: Civil Supplies Minister D Sridhar Babu, MP Ponnam Prabhakar, Government Whip Arepalli Mohan, District Collector Smita Sabharwal, Superintendent of Police Dr V Ravinder, several other leaders and officials garlanded the statue of Dr Jagjivan Ram at Mancherial Chowrastha in Karimnagar on Friday to mark the 106th birth anniversary of the former Depury Prime Minister. Minister Sridhar Babu has said that AP Government is the first state in the country to introduce SC, ST Sub-Plan for the welfare of people belonging to these communities.

Khammam: Dr Jagjivan Ram's birth anniversary celebrations were held at Deputy Speaker Mallu Bhatti Vikramarka's camp office in the town on Friday. The Deputy Speaker urged the people of SCs and STs and other weaker sections to strive for their development. PCC secretary Kishen, State farmers' leader Dasari Daniel, District Minority Welfare Association chairman Shaik Abdul Rasheed, STF district president D Saidulu, district leader Bullet Babu and others were present.
