500 voters of Rajupet to boycott polls

Sircilla: About 800 residents, 500 of them voters, of Rajupet in Srigandha gram panchayat of Ghambiraopet mandal have unanimously decided to boycott the local body elections to protest the negligent attitude of officials, which resulted in the village remaining backward.

In a unanimous decision, the villagers while venting their anger against officials said their attitude and absence of gram panchayat has resulted in lack of basic facilities, like drinking water, power, ration supply, roads, transport and drainage. The residents made it clear that they would cast their votes only if gram panchayat status was given to Rajupet. They appealed to leaders, who come seeking their mandate, to at least now intervene to ensure the grant of a special GP status.
