Agitators intercept Magunta’s car

Ongole: MP Magunta Srinivasulu Reddy was intercepted by Samaikyandhra supporters demanding his resignation here on Wednesday. The agitators wanted the MP to join the agitation. Magunta, however, pacified the mob by announcing that his resignation letter was pending with the Speaker. He also tried to convince the protesters that if he could attend the parliament, he would try to raise the voice of the Seemandhra people. He alighted from the car and joined the agitators. He was quick to mingle with them and even raised slogans in favour of the agitation.

Chirala (Prakasam): The lukewarm response of the Centre towards the Samaikyandhra movement compelled the united State protagonists to intensify their protests. JAC gave a 48 hour Chirala bandh call on Wednesday and appealed to the agitators to block all the roads leading to the town. Protestors blocked vehicular traffic on the Chirala-Guntur road and prevented vehicles from entering the town. JAC leaders held negotiations with ITC management and sought their support. The company employees formed a human chain and later played Kabaddi on the main road.
