It is best if the hospital building faces east as healing rays of the morning Sun gives higher curative atmosphere. A good vastu will always enlighten and highlight the hospital's history and earn it a respected place in the society, if everything is done according to vastu then that hospital or nursing home is sure to earn rave reviews and succeed in its purpose of serving people. Consulting Room The doctor's consulting room should be located in the South-West or South or West or North-west side of the building. He should always diagnose the patients facing North-east or East or North directions. He should always sit in the Southwest or south or west side only, and the patients sitting before him should make 'L' shape which is the most important aspect. This 'L' shape should rise towards the northeast direction. This will definitely bring prosperity to the head of the institution or respective doctor. Medical equipments room It should be located in the South-west, West or South side of the building at in a way that it rises above other structures on the floor. Department of Nuclear Medicines, where nuclear isotopes are used for treatment of cancer and radio immunotherapy, should be located in North. All testing and analytical laboratories - Radiology, Ultrasound, MRI, CT scan, ECG etc - should be placed in West. However, clinical laboratories should be located in South. Store Room This room should be in the South West, West or South; store room should always be constructed in a manner that it is elevated in comparison to other rooms on the floor. Medical ward / ICU The emergency ward should be located in such a manner that the patients visit the hospital and land up in the room facing south-west which facilitates immediate healing. The beds should be arranged at places according to Vastu so the patients place their heads in the South direction. Head should always be placed in the south, to get good vibrations and fasten the treatment process, provide immediate relief, if the patient is relieved of all sufferings that will be the main asset of the oral advertisement. This unit should come in the South-west, south (or) west rooms only. The pooja room should be located at northeast corner to avoid disturbing Vastu if the main building. Operation theatres Operation Theatre can be located anywhere except Ishan, agneya, vayavya corners. The doctors should face East or North direction while doing the operations. Then the operations become quite easier and highly successful. An emergency case or serious case should never be kept in the South-West corner room. Patient should be kept in North-West. The machineries or equipments should be placed at the South-east side. The patients head should be placed at the South side at the time of operation. All the apparatus should be kept in the South or South-west or west side of the patients' bed. Basically, each hospital has two departments --- one for outpatients and the other, for inpatients. The outpatient department is defined as a regular part of the hospital with scheduled part of working with medical and other staff to provide care for patients who are not registered as inpatients. The outpatient's services can be preventive, promotive, curative, follow-up and rehabilitative. The OPD also includes family welfare services, health, medical, Para-medical and nursing services. The inpatient department is defined as another part of the hospital, which allows the patients to stay in the hospital, which allows the patients to stay in the hospital for days together with medical and other staff providing total care for the patients. The basement can be used for vehicle parking. The ground floor can consist of the chairman's room, pharmacy, reception, the casualty (or) emergency department and the minor operation theatre, the ECG, audiometry, X-ray and physiotherapy rooms, the consultation rooms, the laundry, the kitchen/canteen, the clinical lab, the ultrasound room, the generator and plant room, the laundry, toilets and, of course, the staircase and elevators (lifts). The chairman's and other director's offices, the clinical lab and ultrasound can be in the nairutya (South - west), dakshina (South) and Pashchima (West) sectors. Canteens, kitchens, generator and plant rooms can be in the agneya (South - east) sector. As the casualty and the minor operation theatres are immediate necessities, these can be in the easanya (North - east) of the building for entry into them with ease. In the second floor the hospital can house the patient's single and double wards and the nurse's dormitories. The chairman's room and the double wards can be in the South, West and South - west sectors; the single wards can be in the North - east, the nurses' dormitories in the North, canteens and kitchens in the South-east, and toilets and laundry in the North - west sector. The third floor can have the conference rooms having close circuit TV network for watching live operations in the North, East and North - east sectors and the incinerators used for disposing of waste and infected material can be in the South - west sector. The male and the female toilets can be in the North - west sector and the South - west and the South sectors can be strengthened with a rock garden such that it slopes to the North/East. Nurse's quarters should be in the South-East or North-West place to the Hospital. Importance of Sleeping Positions The patient's cots can be placed such that their heads are to the South.
