Azhar vs Asad in Lok Sabha polls?

Hyderabad: It appears as if Congress party has decided to take Majlis-e-Ittehad-ul Muslimeen (MIM) head-on during the next Lok Sabha (LS) elections. Chief Minister N Kiran Kumar Reddy is said to be keen to prove that the MIM was always benefitted from the alliance with the Congress party and not vice versa. If the Congress high command agrees then former cricketer Azharuddin may be shifted from Moradabad and fielded in Hyderabad LS - a bastion of MIM and currently represented by Assaduddin Owaisi. This speculation gained credence following the meeting Azhar had with the Chief Minister in New Delhi on Saturday. Talking to the media, Azharuddin said he would contest from Hyderabad if the party high command asked him to. He, however, denied that his meeting with Kiran Kumar had any political overtones. "It is just a courtesy call. I meet him whenever he comes to Delhi," the former cricketer added. It may be mentioned here that Kiran Kumar has association with Azharuddin from his student days, since he too was a cricketer.
