No respite for people from sizzling summer

Tirupati: Tirupati has just begun to get a taste of this year's summer. But the week's heat was enough to remind people about the looming hot days. The day time temperature is soaring in the town when compared to last year. As per the data provided by the district authorities, the mercury level touched 36.6 degree Celsius on March 13 and on Friday it was 38.2 degree Celsius. While the night temperature was 22 degree Celsius on March 13, and the same was recorded on Thursday night also. On March 14, however, the night temperature registered 24.2 degree Celsius.Notably, the ground water table also depleted when compared to last year and the bore well depth has almost reached 1,000 feet in Tirupati urban area. On the other hand, drinking water was being supplied on alternate days in Tirupati and surrounding areas. There is no respite for the people to beat the sizzling summer heat as the temple town was dotted with hillocks and there was no greenery.
