The faculty also should update their knowledge in improving standards of education, he suggested. He visited Madanapalle Institute of Technology and Science on Saturday and addressed the students and faculty.

Stressing on recruitment standards of the institution, he said the management is keen on recruiting faculty having PhDs and M Tech, in order to provide quality education to the students. He reiterated the significance of TEQIP (Technical Education for Quality Improvement Programme) and its functions in promoting technical education.

It may be noted that MITS is one amongst the 16 private engineering institutions in Andhra Pradesh that was selected for the Cognizant programme with Rs 263 crore fund. The scheme enables the Ph D scholars and M Tech students to get a stipend of Rs 18,000 and Rs 8,000 respectively every month.

The programme will act as a bridge to create awareness about the industry needs to the students and get exposure to real-time needs of the technical world. In 2014, MITS should try to achieve the target of autonomous status in order to provide world class education, Ajay Jain added.
