If your boyfriend/girlfriend is ignoring your calls and messages out of a sudden then it is nothing but "ghosting" or a silent indication for ending a relationship.

Notably, Hollywood actor Sean Penn's recent split with fiancee Charlize Theron was because the actress started ghosting the actor that eventually made their relationship end.

As per a survey conducted by Elle magazine, around 16.7 percent of men and 24.2 percent of women had been ghosts at some point in their lives by cutting off all contact and ignoring their former partner's attempts to reach out, New York Times reported.

People who ghost their partners somehow feel contrite, citing their own fear, insecurity and immaturity, just as actress and the author of 'I Like You Just the Way I Am', Jenny Mollen, explained that she ghosted a man in her life by saying her grandmother died and then froze him out as she didn't know any other way to push him out o her life.

On the other hand, people who are victimised of being ghosted feel annoyed and weird due to the "out of the blue" behavior of their partner.

Studies suggest that technology has made relationships worse and ghosting easier as people resist themselves from confronting and hide themselves behind cell phones or any other technology, as there are many ways to see your beloved interacting with other people while ignoring you.
