col2 Eluru: West Godavari District Collector Dr Vani Mohan has called upon the people to imbibe the quality of service to the neglected sections of the people like old, infirm and destitute.A She was inaugurating the building of the Premalaya Ashram constructed at a cost of Rs 25 lakh on the Madepalli Road here on Sunday. Speaking on the occasion, she went philosophical for a few moments. A Dwelling on the purpose and meaning of human life, she reminded the people who gathered there that 'human being is mortal and he cannot carry anything with him when he leaves this mundane world. His or her action for forwarding a good cause in this physical world leads to immortality,' she said. Realization of this ultimate truth of serving the less fortunate human beings with a smile would pave the way for salvation, she said. There lies the joy of giving, she added.A She lauded the efforts of Premalaya Ashram, which has been working for a good cause of helping the destitute, infirm and the aged people, who do not have anybody to fall back upon for the past 15 years. She also praised the donors for their liberal contribution of Rs 25 lakh for the building. In a society where greed is ruling the roost and human relations have gone from bad to worse, the institutes like Premalayam, born out of pure love and service motto, deserve all the patronage from people as well as the government. "I salute all those who contributed to this holy cause," she said. President of the Ashram Venkatesh said that the institute was born out of Indian ethos 'service to man is service to God,' and thanked the donors for helping further a good cause. Prominent educationist Dr Sivaram called upon the people to purify themselves by service the society. District Revenue Officer M Mohan Raju, DTC S Venkateswara Rao, Premalaya Ashram activists TV Subba Rao, Murali Krishna, Maha Lakshmi, Telugu poet Jonnavittula Ramalingeswara Rao among others participated in the programme. Several people greeted the elderly people staying in the Premalaya Ashram on the occasion.
