Lok Sabha polls in Andhra PradeshNew Delhi: V S Sampath, the Chief election Commissioner has released the election schedule for impending general elections 2014 on Wednesday.

The term of Lok Sabha will end on May 31. Down to this very fact, the schedule for 16th Lok Sabha has been released on Wednesday in New Delhi. Along with the schedule for Lok Sabha elections, he even declared the schedule for assembly elections for as many as three states – Andhra Pradesh, Odisha and Sikkim. According to Sampath, the election code has been imposed with immediate effect, as the election schedule has been released. There will be a meeting with the leaders of all parties on April 4 and the entire process of conducting elections will be concluded by May 31, added Sampath.

He said the booth level officials will have a meeting on March 9 to scrutinize the electoral list. He said that the election commission has considered the fact of raising temperatures during the period apart from considering the crop season and the examinations during the period to finalize the dates. He said there was an increase of 10cr voters for these 2014 elections as compared to 2009 elections. A total of 81.4 cr voters have been registered across the country, added Sampath. As far as Andhra Pradesh is concerned the elections will be conducted in two spells on April 30 and May 7 in the combined state itself. Across the nation, the polls will be conducted in 9 shifts.

It is worth mentioning here that the Union Home Ministry has declared that June 2 will the appointed day of both Telangana and Residual Andhra Pradesh states.
