This has reference to "India's most polarising animal." and "Why zealots not saving cows from dairy farms." Cows, bulls and buffaloes had been reared and fed for milking and ploughing and inland transportation. In addition to that, cow dung and urine mixed with green leaves has been the only natural manure for centuries. Milk is a bonus. The riches of a farmer used to be counted in the number of cattle and bullock carts he possessed. Cow dung and urine is being used for preparing Panchakavya. Houses used to be smeared with cow dung to clean.

Govardhanagiri Trust at Neelavara, 18 km from Udupi, in Karnataka, promoted by the Junior of Pontiff of Pejavara Matha, Udupi Sri Sri Vishvaprasanna Teertha Swamiji, is taking care of 1,200 discarded cows. It prepares about 10 varieties of drugs from cow dung and urine. I have a personal experience of one its oily product: VAJRANGA TAILA; prepared out of cow dung and urine.

I have been using the oil whenever I develop pains in the joints and getting a lot of relief. I am also propagating it. At 75, without being exhausted I can climb, with a brief case, the fourth floor. Hence the only measure with which the cow slaughter can be minimised is exploiting the medicinal values in cow dung and urine. General practitioners and family physicians are the best propagandists of these products.
