The Prime Minister, Shri Narendra Modi, today visited the Gorakhnath Mandir in Gorakhpur. He unveiled a statue of Mahant Avaidyanath ji at the Temple, and addressed the gathering of saints and seers. He recalled his association with Mahant Avaidyanath and said that our saints and seers are very noble and have always been compassionate towards society and the poor.

The Prime Minister, Shri Narendra Modi, today visited the Gorakhnath Mandir in Gorakhpur. He unveiled a statue of Mahant Avaidyanath ji at the Temple, and addressed the gathering of saints and seers. He recalled his association with Mahant Avaidyanath and said that our saints and seers are very noble and have always been compassionate towards society and the poor.

The Prime Minister later unveiled plaques for the Foundation Stones of Gorakhpur Fertilizer Plant and AIIMS. He was given brief presentations on the salient features of both projects.

Addressing a large public gathering on the occasion, the Prime Minister noted that the development of eastern India is essential, for the balanced development of India.

The Prime Minister called it unacceptable that fertilizer plants be shut and youth not have jobs, even as fertilizer is imported from abroad. He said that the reopening of the fertilizer unit can ignite an industrial transformation in the State.

The Prime Minister described how resources have been allocated so that people in the region lead healthy lives. Noting the huge potential for tourism in the region, he said regional connectivity has been given priority in the new civil aviation policy, and this will bring in more tourists.
