FIFA World Cup: Thomas Muller Hat trick Helps Germany 4-0 win over Portugal.

Ballon d'or winner Ronaldo was left wanting in a World Cup match, and Müller scored a hat trick to lead Germany to a convincing 4-0 victory on Monday that left short-handed Portugal in shambles.With an early foul resulted in a penalty and Pepe, Portugal’s central defender with a reputation for unsavoury play, was sent off in the 37th minute for an ill-tempered head butt on Müller. It came moments after the two had clashed for a ball, and it left Portugal with 10 men for nearly an hour.

Pepe will not be available to play against the United States when the teams meet Sunday in Manaus. Portugal could also be without Fábio Coentrão, its all-important left back, who broke down with a groin injury in the 65th minute and left the game.

For Ronaldo, it was another frustrating day at the World Cup as the German defence pinched him off as soon as he tried to make any run with the ball. His best chance was a direct kick late in the second half that was on target but knocked away by Germany goalkeeper Manuel Neuer.

Germany’s chancellor, Angela Merkel, visited the players in the locker room after the match. She congratulated them all, particularly Müller.
