Michael Schumacher's son Mick Schumacher broke his hand after his second crash in as many days in a Formula Four race at the Red Bull Ring in Spielberg on Sunday.

After starting in 16th on the grid the 16-year-old worked his way up to 10th. But local driver Thomas Preining drove into the back of Schumacher's car, ending his race. At hospital the break on his hand was diagnosed as being clean, AFP's subsidiary SID reported. "I'm just simply super disappointed," he said.

Schumacher Jnr, who graduated from karting this season -- winning his first victory in April in only his third race -- escaped unhurt from his crash on Saturday. His seven-times Formula One champion father Michael, 46, was in a coma for 189 days after a December 2013 skiing accident.

His manager said in May that he was making progress but that his recovery will be lengthy.
