Arshad Ayub, President, Hyderabad Cricket Association, told reporters here on Monday that they had revised the format this year. ‘We have changed the State-level competitions to corporate level. The cream of institutions will participate, apart from Sri Lanka Development team. The grand finale will have the ICC President Zaheer Abbas giving away the awards,’ said the former Indian off-spinner.
He said the tournament would be the ideal starter for the coming domestic season a sit will provide the perfect platform for the youngsters knocking on the national doors. Ayub said that they would do everything to ensure that the glory days of the Championship would be restored, particularly with PR Man Singh as the advisor of the Association.
HCA is fielding two teams, HCA XI and HCA President XI while the six others in the fray would be Air India, MRF, Food Corporation of India, Sri Lanka, India Cements and Oil and Natural Gas Corporation Limited.
The matches will be played on a round-robin basis, The final will be a three-day affair at the Rajiv Gandhi International Cricket Stadium from September 14 to 16. Gymkhana, DMRC and Vijayanand Gardens will be the other venues.
Squads-Group 1: Hyderabad XI, Air India, MRF, FCI; Group 2: Hyderabad President XI, Sri Lanka, India Cements, ONGC.
