Top seeds Sania and Hingis came back from 0-5 in the first set to defeat Taipei girls Yung-Jan Chan and Hao-Ching Chan 7-6 (5), 6-1 in the quarterfinals of the final Grand Slam tournament of the season.

In the 85-minute contest, Sania and Hingis converted all the four breakpoints they earned and lost their serve twice to their ninth seed opponents. They next face 11th seed Italians Sara Errani and Flavia Pennetta.
Meanwhile, Rohan Bopanna’s campaign in the men’s doubles ended after he and his Romanian partner Florin Mergea suffered a straight sets loss in the quarterfinals. The sixth-seeded Indo-Romanian duo lost 6-7, 3-6 to the unseeded pair of Dominic Inglot of Britain and Sweden’s Robert Lindstedt in a contest that lasted 80 minutes on court number 17.
