Hyderabad: Away from action for a considerable period, Indian ODI captain Mahendra Singh Dhoni is all set to turn up for Jharkhand in their ensuing ODI and T20 matches.
This was confirmed by team coach Rajiv Kumar after they romped into the Ranji Trophy Elite Group in Hyderabad on Friday. He said that Dhoni’s return will bolster the team’s prospects and also will have a positive bearing on the team members.
“He comes for all practice scheduled. As he has taken retirement from Test cricket, he has decided not to play four-day matches although he has reassured his availability for the shorter formats,” said Rajiv, who has earlier led Bihar.
Though the team has qualified for the Ranji knock-out phase, the coach is looking forward to the upcoming One-Day and T20 tournament. “The Elite matches will commence only in February. Obviously, the focus will be on ODIs and T20,” he said.
Rajiv was very happy that team has entered the quarterfinal in his first year of coaching assignment. “I am very happy that team has qualified after three years. It was a good team work,” he said.
