Put into bat, Hyderabad bowlers, led by Ravi Kiran (4/33) did a decent job in restricting the previous edition runner-up at 238 runs. Unfortunately, the batsmen failed to pick up the gauntlet and were dismissed off 182 in 42.4 overs.

Mayank’s knock came from 66 balls and contained six fours. He added 50 runs for the fifth wicket with Gurkeerat Singh Mann (35) and 62 runs for the sixth wicket with wicket-keeper Gitansh Khera (30) Lanky medium pacer C V Milind scalped three while spinner Vishal Sharma picked up two wickets.

Hyderabad began its chase note and was in dire straits at a pathetic 79 for six wickets. However, wicket-keeper Sumanth Kolla and Kanishkk Naidu stitched a useful 78-run partnership in 107 balls. Sumanth completed his half century in 64 balls with just one four.

Brief scores: Punjab 238 ( Mayank Sidana 64, Yuvraj Singh 36, Gurkreet Singh Mann 35, Ravi Kiran 4/33, CV Milind 3/62, Vishal Sharma 2/40) bt Hyderabad 182 in 42.4 overs (Kolla Sumanth 63, Kanishkk Naidu 35, Siddarth Kaul 5/32, Brinder Singh Sran 3/ 36)
