Guwahati: Indian woman cyclist had claimed the first Gold medal in the 12th South Asian Games (SAG) as the host country has secured seven Gold in the medal tally in the second day of the 11 days mega sporting event.

Indian woman cyclist Bidyaluxmi Tourangbam claimed the first Gold for the country by winning in the 30 KM Individual Time cycling event.

In the event another Indian cyclist Chaoba Devi had won the Silver medal and Pakistan’s Sabiha Bibi got the Bronze.

In the Men’s cycling 40 KM event, Arvind Panwar of India won the Gold while Manjeet Singh (India) won silver and Sri Lankan cyclist Janaka Hemantha Kumara Gonagalage won the Bronze medal.

In Men’s swimming 200 meter Freestyle event, Md. Mahfizur Rahman of Bangladesh won the Gold while Matthew Abeysinghe of Sri Lanka won the Silver and Saurav Sangvekar of India won the Bronze medal.

Host India secured top in medal tally with seven Gold, three Silver medals while Sri Lanka secured second with one Gold, five Silver, two Bronze, Bangladesh with three Bronze, Pakistan with two Bronze and Nepal with one Bronze so far.
