Vijay Sabavath from Pargi set the perfect tone for the Telangana State Sub-junior Sailing Championships-2017 that began at Hussainsagar Lake here on Saturday.
Hyderabad: Vijay Sabavath from Pargi set the perfect tone for the Telangana State Sub-junior Sailing Championships-2017 that began at Hussainsagar Lake here on Saturday.
Braving winds of up to 23 knots, Sabavath toped in two races and had an equal number of third finishes.A product of Yacht Club of Hyderabad (YCH) he pipped Navyn Prabhakar, Durga Prasad and Neelanand who sailed inconsistently giving, to end the day on top of the charts.
To add to Telangana State’s delight, Durga Prasad stood second making it doubly enjoyable for the host State.Meanwhile Neelanand from Tamil Nadu is placed third with 12 points.
It will be an emotional outing for the Pargi lad as having been recruited to represent army node at Bangalore, this will be his last regatta as a Yacht Club sailor.The Optimist Class championship, which concludes on Tuesday, has attracted 71 sailors from six States.
