Hyderabad: The top contenders roared their way into the top league with a fine show of heavy wind sailing on the second day of the Regatta at Hussainsagar Lake here on Sunday. This time around, it was the sailors from Tamil Nadu who gave glimpsed of their innate adaptability techniques to gain the upper hand.

Three from the State, KS Anirudh, Neelanand and Navyn Prabhakar are leading the fleet at the end of seven races.
Anirudh had a disastrous first race with a bad start. However, undaunted he cleared the top three with some stupendous sailing that saw him win two races and end up on top of the ladder with just 14 points after one discard.

Vijay Sabavath of Telangana, a student of Telangana Social Welfare Schools is holding on to the fourth spot and remains within striking distance of a podium finish.

The Telangana State Regatta allows only one discard as against the national norm of two discards making the racing a lot tougher and exciting. Amongst girls, unless someone does something extraordinary in the second half of the tournament, Nithya Balachander of Tamil Nadu is poised for the gold.
