Hyderabad: Impressed by the infrastructural facilities made available during the 57th Senior National Athletic Championship that hosted on the synthetic track at Acharya Nagarjuna University in Guntur, the Sports Authority of Telangana State (SATS) chairman Allipuram Venkateshwar Reddy is hoping replicate the same in Telangana State.

Towards this, he has called upon all the 13 varsities in the State to emulate by laying similar state-of-the-art such tracks at their grounds.Speaking to reporters here on Thursday, the Chairman said that Telangana had loads of talented athletes but they were failing to deliver because of a dearth of good tracks, particularly at the college-level.

He lamented that there was only one synthetic track and that too at Gachibowli. He remained hopeful that such efforts would be given top priority.

He said that they would petition the Centre for an athletic track under Khelo India Scheme, which provides substantial grant for project implementation.

Prof S Ramachandram, Vice-Chancellor of Osmania University, has agreed to take forward the suggestion. SATS Managing Director A Dinakar Babu pointed out that synthetic tracks were in the process of getting sanctioned at Karimnagar and Medak districts.
