New Delhi: Former India Test cricketer and Delhi captain Madan Lal has been appointed chairman of the newly-formed Cricket Affairs Committee (CAC) of Delhi & Districts Cricket Association (DDCA).

The other members of the panel are former national selector Saba Karim, member of the 1983 World Cup winning team Sunil Valson, women cricketer Amita Sharma and senior sports journalist GS Vivek.

The Committee has been entrusted with the duty of appointing coaches for various teams senior to age-group, conducting trials, summer camps and team selections and to ensure the smooth conduct of Delhi league.

The 66-year-old all-rounder appeared in 39 Tests and 67 One-Day Internationals (ODI) for India between 1974 and 1987. Among his most memorable performances was his 3/31 in the final of the 1983 World Cup, an effort that complemented that of Mohinder Amarnath (3/12) in dismantling the West Indian batting line-up and guiding India to a memorable World Cup triumph with a 43-run win.
