Pallekele: India under Virat Kohli, brought back memories of the golden days while comprehensively winning both the Test and One-Day Internationals (ODI) series against Sri Lanka here on Sunday.

Playing at their authoritative best, the visitors plundered the island-nation with a decisive six-wicket win in the third ODI for an unassailable 3-0 lead in the five-game series.India whitewashed Sri Lanka 3-0 in the Test series.

The star performers for India were Jasprit Bumrah (10-2-27-5) and Rohit Sharma (124 not out) and Mahendra Singh Dhoni (67).

Dhonii with two back-to-back performances has effectively silenced his critics that he still has it in him to pull-off improbable wins on his own.

While Sharma slammed an unbeaten century, Dhoni provided good support with another half-century to carry India to an easy win after Sri Lanka were restricted at 217 for nine wickets.

Sharma stroked 124 from 145 balls, hitting 16 fours and two sixes, while Dhoni made 67 from 86 balls,It was a magnificent effort as they came together with India being not in the best of situations at 61 for the loss of four wickets.

The duo put on an unbroken stand of 157 runs from 180 balls for the fifth wicket to put the innings back on track.Meanwhile, the Lankans exposed that India were still struggling in their run chase, as they did in the previous match.

It has still been a clinical performance by the Men in Blue. In fact, in terms of excitement the second ODI was a perfect example of the slam-bang variety, thanks to the vintage Dhoni and Bhuvneshwar Kumar.

Meanwhile, the day also saw Bumrah record his first OFI five-wicket haul. This comes as a good development as India awaits the arrival of Australians.
