Hyderabad: Dr MV Sridhar will cease to be the General Manager (Cricket Operations) of the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) from October 1.

At the receiving end of charges of ‘‘conflict of interest’ for quite a sometime now, and one who has served in multiple positions, including as a manager of crucial overseas tours, Sridhar had tendered his resignation a few days back.
It has been accepted by the Committee of Administrators (CoA), which met in Mumbai on Wednesday. Consequently, his tenure ends on Dasara.

There have been several charges, including in the media, about alleged efforts made by him to hide facts pertaining to his involvement in the affairs of Hyderabad Cricket Association (HCA), of which he is a former Vice-President and Secretary.
It is believed that although he was sounded about the ‘conflict of interest’ doubts against him, Sridhar reportedly remained oblivious of them.

Although, the BCCI had set a deadline to all its employees to come clear on all such charges, Sridhar had purportedly ignored mentioning about his being an accused in ACB cases involving the HCA. To make matters worse, he did not mention about the HCA clubs that he promoted. He owns six of them. A notice was apparently served on him by Board CEO Rahul Johri, where in the administrator had specifically mentioned about the ‘faux pas’ and why the man in the dock was silent on the issues.

Ironically, the various acts of omissions and commissions committed by Sridhar, who enjoyed the patronage of Tamil Nadu strongman N Srinivasan, were brought to the notice of the CoA by former HCA president Arshad Ayub. Everyone is aware of the bad blood that runs between the two cricketers-turned-administrators.

Sridhar had won appreciation from the cricketing world for his suave managerial and persuasive skills that went a long way in easing tensions and nipped a major crisis in the bud during a particularly volatile Indian tour Down Under.
Meanwhile, efforts made to contact him proved futile.
