Shyam enters semi finals

Visakhapatnam: In the decisive fight for the medals here at 2nd Elite National Boxing Championship, the stalwarts of the sport event entered semi finals.

Shyam Kumar representing Railway Sports Promotion Board (RSPB) in light fly weight category (46-49Kgs) took every opportunity to kick out the equivalent opponent Kranti of Andhra Pradesh. In an another bout (52-kg), Salman Sheikh of RSPB had easy go against Vijay Jora of Jharkhand to hold off from semis by 5-0.

The favourite star of the tourney was Shiva Thapa of Assam, he had a good fight with his counterpart Durga Rao of Andhra Pradesh in the first two rounds. In the last round, he opted for under cuts and finally ram him by 5-0.

The crowd was very nervous with entry of Rohit Tokas of RSPB and Dheeraj of Services to catch the glimpse of their punches.

They kept their tempo till the third round of the bout. Rohit Tokas was held in reserve away from semis by Dheeraj by 4-1 in 64-kg category.

Games silver medalist Mandeep Jangra, Mandeep showed command since start of the bout and punched Harpal out by 5-0.
